The Statistical Atlas was built using ArcView GIS and SPSS, and is based on calculations performed on data built from the STF3A data release of the 1990 U.S. Census of Population and Housing. The county and city boundary data came from the ESRI Data and Maps series based on 1995 TIGER files.

Christine Power performed all calculations and created all map displays. Bill Palmer rechecked the calculations to ensure accuracy. Haynes Earnhardt converted the image files output from ArcView. Patrick Yott built the Virgina data files from which calcuations were performed. Spencer Graf offered javascripting and perl expertise for building the interactive resource. Mike Furlough designed the interface and coordinated the project.
