Collection Note

The original Sanborn Fire Insurance map books for Charlottesville, Virginia in 1907 and 1920 are held in the Special Collections Department of the University of Virginia Library.

Production Notes

The 1920 map books were photographed using a Tarsia Technical Industries (TTI) Repro-Graphic Workstation equipped with TTI's Prisma 45 4"X5" digital camera at a resolution of 600 dpi, 24-bit color, and 100% scale to original size and saved as TIFF format images. For web display, the TIFF images were then resampled to 100 dpi and 8-bit color, reduced to four different pixel dimensions, and saved as JPEG format images using Adobe Photoshop 5.0.
